For When Picking a Venue Ain't Easy.
Easily the most important decision that you make when planning your wedding is choosing the location. It can be hard, yall. First of all, the venue itself can singlehandedly determine the overall atmosphere of your wedding. The same exact decor in one space could look and feel totally different when placed somewhere else.
So, maybe you say “I know what I want my venue to look like, and it won’t be that hard for me to choose one!” and if that is you then HECK. YES. But, if that isn’t you then maybe this blog post (and FREE download!) will help!
We all know that in a perfect world, we could select the venue solely based upon the visual aspect of the space with all other aspects being equal. HOWEVER, we live in a world with budgets, and sometimes your dream venue doesn't fit that reality. That brings us to our item to consider: the extras. AKA, your venue’s ability to save you money.
How can your venue save you money?
When looking at the costs of a venue, it is so important that you understand what you are paying for. A venue that costs more but includes things like a bridal suite, staffing, tables & chairs, and parking (to new a few) may actually be a better financial choice in the long run.
For example, let’s say you have two venues to choose between at the same price point. Venue A has wooden X-back chairs ($8 ea. to rent) for all 300 of your guests. Having these chairs provided by the venue could save you up to $2,800 after tax and delivery from a rental company.
On the other hand, Venue B has grooms quarters and a bridal suite that can be used all day prior to the wedding. Without this space, you would need to rent hotel rooms for your wedding party. This could save you up to $500— the cost of two suites at a hotel.
Of course, the final decision would depend on the couple’s priorities. But being fully aware of what you are purchasing at each venue is a good idea for anyone spending thousands of dollars on a one day event— can I get an amen?

To help you know what to look for in a location, I made this guide sheet that allows you to compare the “extras” provided by each venue side by side. This exact guide has been used by my clients during their venue hunts! It helped them to know what questions to ask on their tours, and allowed them to quickly note the answers by making check marks in the boxes! Hopefully it does the same for you!
